Donating Materials

Your contributions are welcome . . . and needed. Pickup of items is available, and every donation helps toward providing adequate housing to those in need.]

Donations are needed and tax deductible!!!

To make a donation, drop it by the store, or call the ReStore at (810) 364-6919 to arrange for pickup. Currently pickup is available Tuesday through Thursday, and we are scheduled about 2 weeks in advance. Pickups are usually arranged on the Monday before the pickup.

Donation guidelines are strict, appliances must be complete and in 100% working order. Dishwashers must be less than 5 years old, and all other appliances less than 10 . Refrigerators must be plugged in when we show up to pick them up to assure that they are in working condition. Other items must be in good shape, and in useable sizes. For example, pipe must be at least 5' in length. Plywood and sheetrock must be at least 1/2 sheets; lumber in full lengths, carpet unstained and no shag carpet.

Legal restrictions prevent us from accepting some items. Also, we have limited storage capacity and may be unable to receive overstocked items. If we are unable to accept your donation, ask us for a list of other donation and disposal centers that may be able to assist you.

When in doubt, call the store at (810) 364-6919 to talk with a staff member about your donation.

Obtain a receipt from a staff member when you donate your items. Store restrictions and legal obligations do not allow us to place a value on your donated items. Feel free to fill out the receipt and place values on your items for tax deduction purposes.

Appliances

We accept dishwashers less than 2 years old, clean and in 100% working order. All other appliances 10 years old or less, must be clean and in 100% working order with no missing parts. We will test them when they are brought in and if they do not work, we will not accept them. Please include owners manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation. Refrigerators and freezers must be plugged in when the truck comes to pick them up. No window air conditioners over 2 years old and they must be tested before we accept them.

Cabinets

We will take cabinets in complete units. They must have doors, shelving, display racks, etc. Must be in stable condition.

Doors

We accept doors if they are in GOOD condition only. They must not have holes, cracks, rot, etc.

Electrical

We accept electrical parts, wire, plugs, plates and the hardware associated with electrical wiring.

Fans

We accept fans if they are complete and in working condition only.

Flooring material

Will accept carpeting if it DOES NOT have stains or worn areas. We will accept vinyl flooring, but NO SCRAPS, PLEASE!! We will accept any amounts of tile.

Furniture

We accept furniture that is in good usable condition with no stains, wore out places or broken parts or springs. Sorry NO MATTRESSES!!

Hardware

We accept hardware for doors, cabinets, etc. Almost all types if it's not rusty.

Lighting

We accept all light fixtures in working condition. No ballasts with pcb's.

Lumber, Plywood, Sheetrock, and Trim

We accept full and 1/2 sheets of plywood. We accept full lengths of lumber. We will accept trim in smaller pieces, but not less than 4 feet long. Please, no rot or nails sticking out of lumber.

Mirrors

Mirror glass is accepted if certain conditions apply. Please call prior to donating these items. Mirrors in frames are always accepted if there are no cracks in the glass.

Palnt and Wallcoverings

We only take paint from comercial/retail donors due to the toxic nature and disposal costs of paint and chemicals. We take full rolls of wallcovering and borders from anyone.

Pipe, Pvc, Metal, and Copper

We accept 4' and over of any type of pipe, and all supplies and fittings.

Plumblng, Tubs, Sinks, Showers, and Toilets

We accept tubs, sinks and vanities if they are in good condition and clean. We accept toilets only if they are in working condition. They must be very clean!! We will not take a dirty toilet under any circumstance.

Roofing Material, Gutters

Due to our limited space we no longer take roofing materials unless special arrangements are made and there is enough material to do a shed or garage at a minimum.

Tools

We accept all hand and power tools in working condition.

Windows and Screens

We accept DOUBLE PANE windows of all types if the glass is intact and installable ijn frames. Most windows will show use, even if they are newer. If they are casement type, we appreciate having the hardware and cranks.
