ReStore

The Blue Water habitat ReStore Celebrated our 6th Anniversary on March 24th. We want to say thank you to all of our many volunteers and donors that have made our ReStore such a success.
Thank You.

In Looking to the ReStore Future

In an effort to get the sales up and make the ReStore more profitable we are looking at doing a few things differently. No major changes that would be noticed by the customers except for more products in the store for purchase.

We want to have fresh new things as well as the quality donated goods available to keep a good consistent mix at all times. We want to better serve the affiliate by bringing more funds in to build more houses. Buy implementing the changes we hope to achieve just that.

In order to move forward we will need a few things and we feel there may be someone who will see this request that can offer some help in one way or another. Maybe you or someone you know can help us with our wish list below. Remember every little bit helps, and it may be that key piece that may be missing.

Remember the ReStore when you are doing your spring cleaning and your remodeling projects. All the funds we raise in the ReStore are put directly towards our mission of eliminating substandard housing. Thank you for all of your help.

The Habitat ReStore, through the work of our dedicated volunteers has been able to raise $500,000 for Habitat For Humanity and has deverted 800 tons of materials from the landfill, over the last 4 1/2 years. We hope to more than double that over the next 1 1/2 years but we need your help. We need  donated items to sell and we need your volunteer time to pickup donated items and to run our store.

The Habitat ReStore is the building material recycling center for St. Clair County with proceeds benefiting Blue Water Habitat for Humanity. The operation accepts donations of new and used building materials, fixtures, appliances, and furniture from the general public and a variety of other sources. Materials are sold to the general public at bargain prices to raise money for the Habitat mission in St. Clair County.

If you have any questions regarding a purchase or donation, please call the Restore at:

The overall strategy is to obtain and sell a wide selection of new, slight seconds, surplus and useable quality building materials to budget minded and do-it-yourself customers at extremely low prices (50% or more below retail) through a retail warehouse supported by a small staff and a large group of committed volunteers.

The desire for shelter is a basic human need. As the costs of building materials escalate, housing maintenance and improvements become increasingly unaffordable. Habitat for Humanity's recycling center addresses this problem by providing good quality building materials at greatly reduced prices as well as supporting the housing projects of the local affiliate.

At the same time, over-consumption of the planets resources is also a contributing factor to a decline in the quality of the environment. One way of stabilizing this situation is to reduce the amount of resources consumed. The ReStore contributes to this type of conservation by facilitating the re-use of building materials in the community. By re- using these materials, the items are kept out of the landfill sites and diverted from the waste stream.

Consistent with the overall vision of this organization, the ReStore mission would be: "To support the global mission of Blue Water Habitat for Humanity, (building homes in partnership with God's people in need) through the recycling of building materials. Four main areas of the ReStore will do this:

  1. Economic - being good stewards of valuable resources
  2. Environmental - reducing landfill disposal costs for builders
  3. Social - providing low-cost materials for neighborhood revitalization
  4. Partnering - serving as a financial partner in the construction of Habitat homes by providing useable materials for the construction of its homes.
