Weekday construction: Weekday construction usually takes place on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Please review the Construction Calendar for current work days.  If you are available during the week your help is greatly appreciated.  Weekday crews are generally smaller than Saturday crews and very valuable because the Tuesday crews helps get caught up or prepare for the weekend work.  New volunteers are needed and required to complete the on-line volunteer registration and orientation.  We work every week (with the exception of holiday weekends). Saturday construction: Volunteers are needed Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Larger work crews are needed on Saturdays to assist with house construction.  You can view the current projects on the Construction Calendar.  If you are insterested in volunteering on a Satruday, please sign up online.  New volunteers will need to complete the on-line registration and orientation.  Previous construction experience is not required.  Volunteers should be at least 18 years of age, however volunteers over the age of 16 are able to volunteer on site if they are accompanied by an adult for every 4 youth volunteers.  Volunteers ages 16 & 17 are not allowed to use power tools, work from heights (on ladders, scaffolding or roof).  If you have questions about youth volunteers please contact Aubree Mayhew at 810-985-9080 ext. 205 or e-mail at aubree@bwhabitat.org.  

Regular construction: If you are able to commit to a day or two a month on a Saturday or weekday, you can become part of a regular construction crew.  You will officially become a regular once you volunteer 6 or more times with Blue Water Habitat.

Crew Leaders: If you are a professional in a construction trade or are comfortable with your knowledge and experience performing a certain task, please consider volunteering to be a crew leader.  A crew leader is a volunteer who is willing to lead a smaller group of 4 to 5 volunteers on a specific task.  Many volunteers come to the work sites with little or no experience, but who are willing to learn, crew leaders help the construction management team and allow everyone on site to be more productive.  If you are interested in becoming a crew leader please contact Aubree Mayhew at 810-985-9080 ext. 205 or e-mail at aubree@bwhabitat.org.

Construction warehouse: Volunteers are needed on an on-call basis  to assist with pre-building, warehouse organization and vehicle/tool maintenance. We are building a regular team of warehouse support.  This support team will generally be utilized after construction is done or after the building season is completed to.  Previous construction experience is not required.  For more information or to sign up, contact Aubree Mayhew at 810-985-9080 Ext. 205 or e-mail aubree@bwhabitat.org.

ReStore: Volunteers are needed Monday through Saturday, shift times are flexible.  Customer service and retail experience is helpful, but not mandatory.  The ReStore is also in need of volunteers who are willing to drive the ReStore truck and pick up donations.  If you are interested in finding out more about the volunteer opportunities in the ReStore please contact the ReStore at 810-985-9080 ext. 212.

Administrative assistance: From time to time Blue Water Habitat has opportunities available to volunteer in the office.  Volunteer shifts and times are flexible and available Monday through Friday.  If you are interested in helping in the offices please contact Aubree Mayhew at 810-985-9080 ext. 205 or e-mail at aubree@bwhabitat.org.  Office opportunities vary and are not always available.
